As Idaho grows, we all feel it. As we sit in traffic, we can sense our commutes growing day by day, month by month. It takes away the precious time we have at home with our loved ones and the opportunities we have in our businesses.
Keep Idaho Moving seeks to unite Idahoans in standing behind solutions that get us home and foster our economic success.
Current Priorties
Priority #1: Support Passage of the Ada County VRF on Nov. 3
Passage renews existing Vehicle Registration Fee at
the same rate, which provides $14 million annually towards transportation
improvements.
Priority #2: Restore State Funding to Transportation
The 2026 Legislature cut $300 million in ongoing transportation funding.
Priority #3: Encourage Private Support of Lake Hazel Extension
The 5.5-mile extension will provide better connection between thousands of homes and jobs, improve freight capacity, industrial growth opportunities, and new neighborhood development.
About Us
Keep Idaho Moving (KIM) is an advocacy initiative of the Boise Metro Chamber that identifies, elevates and champions transportation solutions that address the growing congestion challenges facing our region and state.
KIM is governed by an Executive Committee co-chaired by the initiative’s original advocates, Tommy Ahlquist and Garrett Lofto. The committee also includes the Chamber CEO and industry representatives. An Advisory Board of major Treasure Valley employers and city and county officials guides KIM’s direction and priorities. This work happens in close coordination with implementation partners, including the Ada County Highway District, COMPASS, the Idaho Transportation Department, LHTAC, and Valley Regional Transit.
What We Do
- Identify and vet solutions proposed by Idahoans who understand the state’s unique challenges and values.
- Amplify compelling ideas through public advocacy and coordinated communications.
- Lead efforts to support viable solutions through new policy or legislation.
